Talking To be armed or not to be armed, that is the question ?

I see that the all nighter thread is turning into a debate about whether to be armed or not to be armed while fishing either at night or in a place that might pose a risk to yourself or family...

I want everyone who responds to this thread to remember that each post is just a persons opinion and not something to get into an argument about...

The question is should or do you carry a firearm while fishing at night or in a place that might pose a risk to yourself or family ?
If you do carry a fire arm, what kind and why do you carry that particular one ?

I always carry a side arm anytime I am out fishing at night or in a remote location.... I am not a violent person, but I do believe we all have the right to protect ourselves and our property...
I carry a 22mag revolver. I carry it because it is the one I have a holster for and it was not not very expensive. If it was lost or damaged it would not be the end of the world... I carry it with an empty chamber under the firing pin and the safty on. The holster has a hammer strap to keep the pistol in...

I've never felt the need to carry a gun. I always have a sharp knife though. There's been a few times where I might've shot someone if I'd had a gun! So be careful who's line you deliberately cut out there!

If I was to carry a gun it'd be Desert Eagle.

Cool I carry a Huge Canister of Pepper Spray!

Have used it many times on dogs and bulls. I was bitten by a rotweiler while fishing once..13 sutures in the right knee... There were 2 other rots with it...If I didn't have my pepper spray...I don't know what would have happened!

I do carry my 686 smith with me from time to time...Usually early season when I am scouting new land! There is a catch thou...I am allowed with my job to carry concealed anywhere/anytime!

I plan on carrying a gun this year. If I was fishing on private property where I knew I would be safe, than I would not. I do however paln to fish the river all night and thats when I chose to fish armed.

FISHING WITH A FIREARM

I have never carried a firearm while fishing but if I felt the need or I fished where there might be trouble I would carry a R G 22 pistol that I gave 25 dollars for new 30 years ago. I will be going on a catfishing trip this sumer to the mississippi near west memphis tenn. After giving it some thought I will strap a firearm on. As for those who don't think anyone should pack , always remember " an armed socicity is a polite socicity". The mere presents of a fire arm has caused many a young buck to pull in his horns.

EAGLE
I never go out without my HI-STANDARD double nine 22cal. on my side unless guns are forbidden. I don't like snakes and snappers.

Re: To be armed or not to be armed, that is the question ?

I generally carry a Kel-Tek .380. It's small and light and by the time I would need to shoot the guy would be close enough that it would be accurate enough. I do have CCW permits in both Ohio & PA.
