Ended up in the Bay Sunday.
My offshore charter chickened out Sunday. I think the birthday boy was afraid he'd be seasick on his B-day so they re-schduled. To bad too it was a nice day.
Any way, I took my dad and we ran down into East Matagorda Bay TX. The wind was out of the NE which is unusual here at this time of the year. With a light north wind I decided to run to some reefs on the north shore line. We were on the reff before day break.
I was throwing the glow cocahoe minnow and dad top water. Dad waded to the NW, I to the NE. I had a big Speckled Trout after less than a dozen casts. She looked to be in the mid 20's. Only she shook free as I reached for her. The next dozen cast casts either had hook-ups or missed strikes. It was looking like we were on the mother load. Dads top water was producing blowups but few hook ups.
As the sun broke the horizin the bite fell off quickly. I strung three nice eater trout and realesed maybe 6 more and released three Redfish. We were back on the pier at the house by by 10:30am. Not a long morning, but productive.
