Thumbs up Trying out new soft plastic colors

Date: 08/20/03
Time:
POC

I was out trying some new (at least to me) colors of soft plastics sent to me by Saltwater Assassin's. They are "Calcasieu Brew" and "Electric Buzzard" (not to be confused with "Elect. Chicken").

We hit trout and caught them in all sizes up to 24 in. Just to make sure I switched colors back to a couple of my old standbys and for some unknown reason the fish wouldn't hit my old favorites. But when I switched back to one of the new colors they started striking again. Go figure.

I even mashed the barbs down with a pair of pliers to make the hook barbless for quick release after I had my limit.

This was the first time in a long time I got tired of catching fish. The fish were on the bottom with sand and scattered grass approx. 2.5 to 4 ft. in depth

Good to hear someone on the Texas gulf coast is catching some fish.

East Matagorda Bay is so hot you can almost serve fresh fish right off the stringer.

Can you discribe those two colors for us?

Texas Assassin's

They're the new Texas Assassin's. The Calcasieu Brew has a limetreuse back and the bottom is a coffee color with red glitter in it. The Electric Buzzard has a Pink back and the same coffee colored w/ red flake belly. The Texas Assassin is like the bass assassin with a solid body (no split belly) also a rat tail.

They made a believer outta me

OK,
So they look real close to the two "pepper" colored Norton Sand Eels? I fish both of them and have hammered the trout a few times on them in West Matagorda Bay.
