Keeping leeches

I once fished with a guide who kept his leeches in some sort of bedding in the fridge. Anyone have experience with this? If not, any other suggestions for keeping leeches for a week or so? It's a long trip from here to where I can buy leeches so don't want to make the trip everytime I fish.

Re: Keeping leeches

Never tried to keep leeches in bedding, but they can be kept in water for some time. Just change the water when it starts to look milky around them. Also, chlorinated city water kills them, I use lake water.
